What to do when you’re stressed out!
I know what you're thinking… Just another thing I need to do to stay authentic, build confidence and get me through another year of being Wholehearted.
Do I really have time for this? These mindfulness habits and really just 10 mins a day? who has 10 mins a day anyways? I hear ya, sis! as always the goal here is to teach you things that just become a part of you. This will be good so stick with me!
First, let’s talk about what mindfulness will do for you. It is really about learning how to be fully present about your surroundings and how you activate them. How do you respond to the things that stress you out!
The goal is to train your brain to not be overwhelmed by what is going on and really take ownership of your own mind and feelings and of course, this all plays into being your authentic self and having the courage to know how to respond in certain situations. Right! It will be amazing just keep reading…..
So let’s start by saying that this will help you tap into your inner strength as a woman and it will also show resilience. You are a young lady living in a world full of balancing a lot of stressful things like homework, sports, friends, social media, jobs, clubs, snap chat, tik toks, and more.
The good news is I’ve found ways to help you give you strength to shut out the noise and be you. All by teaching you how to respond better to stress and yes please share with your mom, she might find this very helpful. This will be such a valuable skill that you will thank me someday! Ok, do I have you yet? Let’s talk benefits of mindfulness. The two that come to mind are extremely valuable that will put you in a better mood and increase awareness and attention.
Better Mood- Practicing mindfulness for just 10 mins a day can create a feeling of peace, acceptance, lightheartedness, and ease. That will help you with having your mind wander into negative thinking and thoughts. Plus if you feel like you are all over the place with mood swings those will be reduced and you can better handle situations with a clear head. So use it when your mom tells you to clean your room.
Increased attention and awareness - No joke what I’ll teach you will help your ability to focus. Noticing the small things will keep you present and calmer. You’ll be able to better perform under pressure, such as when taking a test, winning a game, speaking to new people, or in front of a class.
Guess what it will also help you with sleep, healthy habits such as eating well and much more.

It’s all breathing I know it’s silly! I’ll teach you the 4,7,8 breathing to relax you, and you can use them anytime you feel stressed or even have a hard falling asleep.
It is so effective to help your stress hormone cortisol and puts your body in a fully relaxed state. Your anxiety will melt away.

Begin counting on the in breath: Breath in for a count of 4 (inhale 2,3,4 )
Hold for a count of 7- hold 2,3,4,5,6,7
Exhale for a count of 8 - exhale 2,3,4,5,6,7,8
Repeat this 4 times!
